Narrative Story TherapY

cut out _edited.png
Narrative story therapy is a compassionate and empowering form of psychotherapy that centers around the sacred stories individuals tell about their lives. It is grounded in the belief that these narratives shape one's identity and experiences. When working with me, you are encouraged to explore and reframe your personal story, often discovering strengths, resilience, and alternative perspectives.

This therapy approach fosters self-awareness and helps individuals separate themselves from their problems, allowing them to envision new possibilities and write more fulfilling life narratives. Through this process, narrative story therapy nurtures hope, healing, and personal growth.

What are the main benefits of using a narrative approach in counseling?

Narrative story therapy can help with anxiety, depression, relationship problems, spiritual problems, shame, and other issues that interfere with the joy and quality of parts of your life. It is helpful for those who have had difficult childhoods, have low self worth and traumatic experiences, and those who struggle with relationships.

How long is the therapy?

Narrative therapy is a reflective process that helps you re-examine the stories you've been living by, how they have been affecting you, and allows you to trace the roots of your current struggles and heal them. Everyone is different and progress at different pace depending on your history and goals.

Is Narrative Story Therapy Evidenced-based?

Yes, narrative therapy has a good evidence base. It is often intergrated with other evidence based therapies such as CBT, EMDR, and other evidence based therapies.

Narrative Story Therapy allows a person to understand the impact these experiences had and how to make desired changes.

Can Narrative Story Therapy incorporate my faith into the process?

Yes, you can incorporate your faith or you can work on any struggles you have with faith, feeling safe or distant  with God, or feeling anxiety around your faith.  No matter what your belief you can work on any spiritual difficulties if that is part of your goal. Our faith and spiritual beliefs should bring us a sense of acceptane, love, and peace.
