Transparency About the Cost of Therapy
Christine Rodriguez, LMHC – Trauma-Informed Psychotherapy

Transparency is a cornerstone of trauma-informed care. In alignment with trauma-informed principles, we want you to understand the cost of therapy and how fees are determined, so you can make informed choices about your care.

Each session rate reflects  experience, licensure, certifications, and areas of specialization.

Initial Steps & Fee Review

  • Your session fee will be reviewed during your initial phone consultation and again in your first session while reviewing intake paperwork.

  • If you are unclear about your fee or the Good Faith Estimate, please let me know. I am committed to trustworthiness and transparency, and will clarify any questions about costs or your rights under the No Surprises Act.

  • Therapy fees may change over time due to inflation, new certifications, licensure, or professional milestones. You will be notified at least 30 days in advance, and you may request a sliding-scale review.

  • I regularly re-evaluate the length and frequency of care with you, based on new information, changes in symptoms, or treatment goals. You are encouraged to discuss any concerns about the cost, length, or frequency of therapy at any time.

Why Does Therapy Cost What It Does?

Therapy is more than the time spent in session. Beyond our hour together, I dedicate time to:

  • Preparing for your sessions and reflecting on your care

  • Documenting clinical work, treatment planning, and progress

  • Supervision, consultation, and ongoing professional development

The center also supports therapy with infrastructure, including:

  • Employee benefits and administrative staff

  • Office rent, furnishings, and supplies

  • Technology, medical record systems, and utilities

  • Leadership time, supervision costs, legal and business consultation

  • Website, outreach, and organizational management

Specialized Trauma Care & Professional Investment

Specialized trauma therapy requires extensive training and expertise. Many therapists invest:

  • $100,000–$200,000 in graduate education

  • $5,000–$15,000 to meet initial licensure requirements

  • $10,000–$20,000 in advanced trauma training and certifications

Annual costs for professional membership, liability insurance, continuing education, and license renewal also support competent, ethical, and trauma-informed care.
